Almost everyone thinks that using a cell phone while driving is distracting. And many, many people do it. (Research is all over the place on the issue.)
Beginning June 1, Chapel Hill will prohibit hands-free and hand-held cell phones while driving. Most respondents in the Elon University Poll think that Chapel Hill is where that trend should stop, too. Fifty-five percent of those polled oppose making such cell phone use in the care illegal. Forty-three percent favor it.
